Stepwise Press

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 28, 2026

Stepwise Press is a small independent publisher of practical how-to books. This page explains, in plain terms, what information we collect when you visit stepwisepress.com or buy from us, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it short and readable, and if anything here is unclear, we're always happy to answer questions.

What we collect and why

When you request one of our free book bonuses, such as the toolkit at stepwisepress.com/executor, we ask for your first name and email address. We use them to send you the download you asked for, along with a few related emails that we think you'll find useful, such as tips for getting the most out of the materials or news about other resources that go with the book. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can use it at any time to stop hearing from us.

When you buy a digital download from us, we ask for your name and email address so we can deliver your files. Along with the order itself, which records what you bought, the price, and the date, our checkout records basic technical details such as your IP address and the page or ad that brought you to us. We use this information to deliver your order, send your receipt and download links, help you if a file doesn't open, handle refunds, keep the records we need for tax and accounting, and understand which of our ads and pages are working.

Payments

Our checkout pages run on HighLevel, and your card payment is processed by Stripe, a secure payment processor. Your card details go directly to Stripe, so we never see or store your full card number. We can see the card type and the last four digits, which helps us find your order if you write to us. Stripe handles your payment information under its own privacy policy, which you can read at stripe.com/privacy.

Cookies and similar technologies

Our website and emails run on HighLevel, a marketing and customer management platform that stores and processes information on our behalf. Like most websites, our pages use cookies and similar technologies to keep forms and checkout working, remember where you are in an order, understand how visitors find and use the site, and see whether our emails are being opened.

We advertise our books on Google, and our pages use the Google tag for Google Ads conversion tracking. When you arrive from one of our ads, the tag sets a cookie that lets Google tell us that an ad click led to a purchase, along with the order amount. We use this to measure our ads and spend less on the ones that don't help readers find us. Google may also use this information under its own policies, which are explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

When we advertise on Facebook and Instagram, we also use the Meta pixel. The pixel works much like the Google tag, recording visits and purchases on our pages so we can see which ads work. Meta uses this information under its own data policy at facebook.com/privacy/policy.

How to opt out

You have several ways to limit this kind of tracking.

  • Google: you can turn off ad personalization in your Google account at myadcenter.google.com (Google's ad settings).
  • Ad industry opt-outs: you can opt out of interest-based ads from participating companies at aboutads.info/choices, and in apps through the AppChoices app.
  • Meta: if you use Facebook or Instagram, you can manage how your activity off Meta is used under Ad preferences in your account settings.
  • Your browser: you can block or delete cookies, including third-party cookies, in your browser settings, and most browsers offer a private mode that clears cookies when you close it. Some parts of the site, such as checkout, may not work as smoothly if you block all cookies.
  • Email: every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also simply reply and ask us to stop.

How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not rent it to anyone. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the site, send email, and process payments (HighLevel and Stripe), with Google and Meta as described above when you interact with our ads, or when we are required to by law. Some state privacy laws treat the use of advertising cookies and pixels as "sharing" personal information or as "targeted advertising". If you'd like to opt out of that, you can use the choices above or email us and we'll honor your request.

How long we keep your information

We keep your information only as long as we need it.

  • Email list: your name and email stay on our list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. After you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a do-not-email list so that we don't contact you again by mistake.
  • Order records: we keep these for up to seven years, because we need them for tax and accounting and to help with any question about a purchase.
  • Advertising cookies: these expire on their own, typically within about 90 days for Google and Meta, and you can delete them sooner in your browser.

If you ask us to delete your information, we will remove it except for anything we're required to keep, such as order records for tax purposes.

Refunds

If something you bought from us isn't useful to you, email [email protected] within 30 days of your purchase and we'll refund you, no questions asked. Refunds go back to the card you paid with through Stripe, and depending on your bank, they usually appear within five to ten business days.

Your choices and privacy rights

You can unsubscribe from our emails whenever you like. You can also contact us to ask what information we have about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, and we'll do our best to respond promptly. Depending on where you live, your state's privacy laws may give you additional rights over your personal information, and we will honor reasonable requests of this kind wherever they apply.

Children

Our books and website are written for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, please let us know and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our site and offerings grow. When we do, we'll post the new version here with an updated effective date.
